SFI Award 2021

We were awarded the SFI Platinum Award for 2021. Look at our amazing feedback!

"Congratulations to all at Tallanstown National School on your Award! Your application shows how much hands on science takes place in the school with children investigating everything from what plants need to grow to gravity - it would be great to hear more about the results of your investigations, for example, which material actually worked best to protect a bag of crisps in the post? Well done on engaging with lots of STEM events and speakers from participating in Science and Maths Week, to inviting speakers on biodiversity to visit the school, and connecting with astronauts on line. The children clearly have opportunities to develop their ICT skills through coding and Minecraft projects. Adding examples of their lego animation and farm safety videos to the log showcases the development of STEM skills including communication and creativity. There are clearly some engineers of the future in the school and it was great to see them enthusiastically working on their slides, mazes, catapults, robots, bridges and chain reactions at home and in school. Your log has plenty of evidence science and of maths skills being applied and overall the commitment to whole school involvement in your STEM Award is admirable. Well done on an excellent log and well deserved Award!"
